Giving New York's Homeless Sneakers From the Sole | BK Stories

Andre McDonnell, founder of It's From the Sole, has given away thousands of sneakers and socks to New York City's homeless. McDonnell ended his career in fashion for a life of service when he was compelled to take the sneakers from his own feet and gave them to a homeless man walking around NYC without any shoes on. From that moment on he decided to make it his mission to make sure New York's homeless gets the chance to have a pair of decent sneakers to wear. It's From the Sole was founded in 2012, since then the foundation has been able to distribute over 8,000 pairs of sneakers in New York City as the number of homeless people sleeping each night in municipal shelters exceeding 60,000 people, including 25,000 children, for the first time ever.
